Former Michigan quarterback arrested on suspicion of DWI

Former University of Arkansas, University of MI and National Football League quarterback Ryan Mallett has been arrested in northwest Arkansas for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Mallett played one season at MI before transferring to Arkansas.

Mallett, 31, a former star quarterback at Arkansas and native of Batesville, Ark., was arrested in Fayetteville in 2009 for public intoxication, pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charge and paying a fine.

Cops tested his blood alcohol level. and he blew a.08, jail officials tell us.

Mallett was cooperative with police, Taylor said.

Mallett was taken into custody just before 7:00 p.m.

It couldn't be worse timing for the former New England Patriots and Baltimore Ravens QB - who recently accepted an invite to the XFL Draft being held in October. Mallett competed in the XFL's Summer Showcase in Tampa Bay earlier this year as well. When Vince McMahon forst announced the XLF he stated that they weren't interested in players with criminal records.
