Former Spain U21 coach and assistant to Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid, Albert Celades, is expected to be named as Marcelino's replacement at Valencia.

"The club has told me that Rafinha won't be coming, the squad is a little short", Marcelino said during the summer.

"The club wants to thank you for your work and dedication during your time with the club and wish you the greatest success for the future", the club said.

Former Barcelona and Real Madrid midfielder Albert Celades, who was an assistant coach to Julen Lopetegui at the Santiago Bernabeu previous year, has now taken over at Mestalla.

He'll oversee the first training session with the team on Wednesday, according to a statement from the official website.
