Say Hello To The Stunning Acura Type S Concept

The Acura Type S Concept that the brand revealed Tuesday could mean more vehicle sales for Acura in the future.

Whether it was the Precision Concept that still applies to today's design language, or the Precision Cockpit Concept that gave us a very early preview of its new infotainment layout, Acura's concepts have been pretty straightforward ways for the automaker to say, "Hey, here's what's coming down the pipeline".

Acura says the new concept previews the next-generation TLX Type S sedan. It's unclear what the second Type S auto might be, or indeed whether it will be another sedan or one of Acura's SUVs.

The concept features the slimmest, and most attractive, iteration of its diamond pentagonal grille, as well as headlights and tail-lights with chicane-inspired graphics. We see some of the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro in the Type S Concept's face, and that's not a bad thing.

While it looks like a beefy rear-wheel-drive sedan, that's not the case. High-performance Brembo brakes with four-piston calipers also provide ample stopping power, but Acura hasn't revealed any technical specifications, sadly. It resides above LED taillights and a sporty rear fascia.

Meanwhile, the Pebble Beach concept vehicle will also reboot the Type S badge in general. The forged carbon is also used for the rear diffuser, front splitter, side sills, and even the wheels.

The auto is painted in an arresting shade of "Double Apex Blue Pearl" that uses nano pigments and is topped with a color-infused clear coat to improve its luster.

Acura has always punched above its weight when it embraces its own unique Japanese heritage and runs with it, and so consider us already charmed by the Acura Type S Concept vehicle it has pulled the wraps off today.
