Andrew Luck dealing with bone injury, not Achilles?

As Andrew Luck continues to miss practices with a calf issue, Colts owner Jim Irsay drew notice and caused further alarm Tuesday when he said his quarterback's issue was a bone problem.

Irsay shared that information in a radio interview this week while assuring listeners that Luck is not at risk for an Achilles tendon injury. "It's in another area".

The report emphasizes the difference between Luck's current calf injury and the shoulder issue that hampered him in the past.

"But he's doing very well. We wish there wasn't any little tweaks at all, but as you know, these things come up and you've got to deal with them".

Ballard says "most likely" Luck will not play in the preseason. Then, as the team gathered for training camp and Luck continued to sit on the sideline, Irsay changed his prediction to early in the 2017 season.

Luck has been working with throwing guru Tom House. He returned in 2018 and played in all 16 games, posting a career-high QBR, helping lead the Colts to the playoffs for the first time since 2014 and even winning a postseason game. And now no one knows anything again.

The Colts open the regular season on the road at the Chargers, September 8.
