Facebook's mobile dark mode is getting closer

Wong notes that only portions of the app have been revamped with dark mode thus far, meaning that you'll often see mishaps like dark text on a dark background.

Facebook Messenger added its dark mode earlier this year, and we're getting the first signs that the social network's main app will follow suit. Reliable researcher Jane Manchun Wong found that Facebook is testing a darker color scheme on the Android version of its app. "I am as curious about the release timeline of Facebook mobile Dark Mode as you are!", said Wong.

Different users prefer dark modes for different reasons; some want it for because apps with darker backgrounds are easier on the eyes, some prefer the elegant aesthetics, while others just love to extend their smartphones' battery backup. Increasing demand for dark modes and the economization of AMOLED displays has persuaded developers to include a native dark mode/theme in their apps. In the screenshot as well, one could see most of the text in White on a dark grey background, while the "Groups" mentioned on top is in all Black on the same dark background.

Facebook is still working on Dark Mode for its main app and it's going to be a while before the company makes the feature public.
