Anthem's Cataclysm Event Finally Arrives Alongside Patch 1.3.0

It's fair to say that BioWare's big new live game Anthem has had a rough few months.

It's great to see Anthem finally receive some new content, but I have to wonder if it will be enough to improve the player count.

Along with the Cataclysm story missions and game mode, there are several new features included with the event. The mode itself will take you to a new area of the map where you'll find arenas to take shelter from the map-wide storm that will damage your Javelin as long as you remain within it.

Freeplay doesn't escape the Cataclysm either. There are balls of light in the sky called Storm Gates, when these open you can fly through and complete the objectives within before time runs out to earn rewards.

It's about time - after all, according to Anthem's original roadmap, the Cataclysm event was initially meant to launch back in May.

The Cataclysm also brings three new unique story missions to the game, which should hopefully breathe a little bit of life into Anthem. Minor Crystals can be exchanged for Major Crystals.

In War Chests, you're looking for new Masterwork and Legendary melee weapons, as well as regular ranged weapons and support gear. You'll also receive an additional melee slot.

On the cosmetic side, you're mostly looking at new armor packs and vinyls.

With the Cataclysm comes new in-game currency in the form of Major and Minor Crystals.

Another weekly change during the Cataclysm event are Inversions.

EA describes the Cataclysm as "a themed, season-long event that offers unique rewards and challenges for its duration, and leaves Bastion changed when it ends".
