Patriots bail on OTAs to go paint balling

Several other coaches around the National Football League have also canceled their team's final days of OTAs, including new Miami Dolphins head coach (and former Patriots assistant) Brian Flores. The Patriots had two more OTA sessions scheduled for the beginning of this week, but Belichick has canceled them both. That means they won't return to the practice field untl training camp in late July.

While the plans for the team-building exercise were a surprise, the veterans on the roster had anticipated last week - or were at least overly hopeful - Belichick had something like this up his sleeve. After canceling this week's final two, New England conducted five OTAs and three days of minicamp to conclude its spring workout.

The goal this year like every year is to have another ring ceremony at owners Robert Kraft's house next June where they would receive another Super Bowl ring.
