His dominating batting helped England to manage 373/3 (50 overs) in the first innings and later England won that match by 12 runs.

Roy eventually sliced Faheem to Asif Ali at cover-point, having hit eight fours and four sixes.

England generally prefer batting first but captain Eoin Morgan chose to give them experience of chasing just weeks away from the World Cup by opting to field first after winning the toss.

Although every batsman performed very well in that innings, Buttler outran those top-order performances.

Being put in to bat first, England got off to a superb start as Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow amassed a 115-run partnership, during which both batsmen brought up their half-centuries, before Bairstow was dismissed by Shaheen Shah Afridi for 51, which came off 45 balls and included six boundaries.

The 28-year-old went to three figures in just 50 balls, celebrating the landmark with a baby-rocking gesture as wife Louise and new daughter Georgia looked on from the stands.

"He's an extreme talent and works hard for it and deserves everything he gets", said Roy, who scored 87 against Pakistan on his return from injury.

Buttler, England's one-day wicket-keeper, has also made his mark in global franchise tournaments such as the Twenty20 Indian Premier League and Australia's Big Bash.

Nasser Hussain told Sky Sports, "I don't like massive comments, but he'd have to be up there with the three or four greatest white-ball players of all time".

Actually, his batting is a combination of Dhoni and De Villiers - the inventiveness, improvisation and hand-eye co-ordination of the latter melded to the cool, nerveless presence of the former, especially when prosecuting run-chases.

"It puts cricket in perspective a bit which I've always enjoyed stuff that does that and she certainly does that".

Jos Buttler believes he is in the kind of touch heading into this month's World Cup that could see him break his own record for England's fastest one-day global hundred. However, he has recently claimed that he is 100% fit for the upcoming challenges.

Amir was not named in the original World Cup squad but was favourite to make it to the team provided he shows his form and fitness during the five-match One-Day series against England.

Only Buttler himself, with a 46-ball effort against Pakistan in November 2015, has scored a quicker ODI hundred for England.

"Then my back was quite a big issue but it was resolved by the great medical staff we have here". I wanted to build on that - and ride the back of that wave for all of last summer.

'That hundred I got in Sydney was probably the best I'd played in an England shirt.
