Florida woman missing for 6 years found in warehouse freezer

The body of Heather Lacey, a 35-year-old Florida woman who had been missing for six years, was found inside a freezer at a scrap warehouse.

Following her disappearance, family members said she had a history of drug abuse that started after she had a C-section and started using painkillers, as well as cocaine and other narcotics.

The body of a Florida woman missing for almost six years was discovered stuffed inside a warehouse freezer, a report said on Monday.

The freezer with Lacey's body inside was taken to the facility after its owner, Jonathan Escarzaga, was discovered dead inside his apartment. The manager of the unit reportedly had the appliances sent to the scrap warehouse, where Argueta made the grisly discovery.

"My dad was talking to her every day until Thanksgiving", Amber Lacey, Heather's younger sister, told The Sentinel. They opened it about a month after Escarzaga's death and found the missing woman.

Authorities are withholding information pending autopsy results by the Broward County Medical Examiner's Office, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Police have not said whether Escarzaga knew Lacey, or what role, if any, he may have had in her death.
