John Singleton slips into coma after suffering 'major stroke'

The "Boyz n the Hood" director's incident led to him being in a coma, according to TMZ.

She also stated in the documents that the director was handling "several business projects before the stroke and was prepared to sign a lucrative settlement agreement" at the end of the month.

ET confirmed last week that the Boyz n the Hood director was now in the hospital after suffering a stroke, but his condition is more serious than previously reported.

Friends, colleagues and fans including Viola Davis, Mark Wahlberg and Guillermo Del Toro have offered prayers and wished Singleton well since the announcement. The gritty film about life in south central Los Angeles sparked success for Ice Cube and Morris Chestnut in their first acting roles.

The documents put the value of Singleton's estate at $1.4 million.

His other works include directing the films Poetic Justice starring Janet Jackson, and Rosewood, starring Tupac Shakur. Shelia is looking to gain the conservator position so she can settle the deals for her son in hopes of him waking up soon. Most recently, he has worked as a creator and executive producer on the FX series Snowfall. The documents say that if a conservator can not sign the papers on his behalf, it will mean a big financial loss.

His rep did not immediately return our request for comment regarding this latest update.

The family had initially acknowledged on Saturday that Singleton had suffered a stroke, saying he was "under great medical care" in an intensive care unit.
