Unruly Passenger Jumps Onto Tarmac at Phoenix Airport

The man was brought to the front of the plane after landing to disembark first because of some odd behaviors that he was exhibiting, such as touching other passengers' faces and spraying a spray bottle on them.

Passengers on the plane declined to press charges against the man; however, he could still face trespassing charges for his jump onto the tarmac.

Neither police nor American Airlines indicated whether it had been determined what was sprayed by the man but there were no reports of injuries to passengers.

Citing a Phoenix Police statement (carried in full here by local news site the Phoenix New Times News), the Arizona Republic said a 25-year-old man was acting strangely during the flight from Minneapolis.

It's unclear what was in the bottle that the man sprayed onto passengers. While waiting for the main door of the plane to open, the man opened a service door on the other side of the plane and jumped out.

Johnson said the man tried to stand up just minutes before landing and later attempted to make a run for it once the plane came to a stop, hitting other passengers including Johnson. "He was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries", the police department's statement said. Police took him into custody without incident. None of the passengers on board wished to press charges, they added.

American Airlines flight 1346, en route from Minneapolis, called ahead for police to meet the aircraft after a passenger began causing disturbances during the flight.

"Law enforcement and paramedics responded".
