Sourav Ganguly all praises for Rishabh Pant after Delhi's victory over KKR

"We bowled exceptionally well to restrict KKR to 178 for seven, it was actually a 200-run pitch". Shubman Gill utilized the opportunity of opening the batting with a 39-ball 65 while Andre Russell's 21-ball 45 helped KKR to finish with 178/7.

Asked if their bowlers had a special plan for danger man Andre Russell, he said: "For Russell, there is only one plan, keep praying that he hits one up in the air and is caught".

Delhi Capitals, however, cantered in the chase.

Then in the chase, Dhawan, who has been sluggish so far in the tournament, pottering around in the Powerplay to put vast pressure on the middle order, came out flying high and swatting short deliveries to the square boundaries. On the other hand, with three wins in six matches, Capitals are at No. 6 in the points table. This had little effect on Gill, whose balance and poise left an indelible mark. Robin Uthappa and Gill steadied the innings with a 63-run second-wicket stand. Gill mixed caution with aggression while Uthappa played the big shots.

Russell had more than seven overs to give the Knight Riders a great finish. His special message has made his fans respect him even more!

Delhi Capitals: Shreyas Iyer (capt), Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant (wk), Colin Ingram, Keemo Paul, Axar Patel, Rahul Tewatia, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma, Hanuma Vihari, Ankush Bains, Harshal Patel, Manjot Kalra, Chris Morris, Sherfane Rutherford, Jalaj Saxena, Sandeep Lamichhane, Trent Boult, Avesh Khan, Nathu Singh, Bandaru Ayyappa, Colin Munro. The first of those was smacked over the cover fence, while the second was more of a mishit off a top-edged pull. They lost another one as Dinesh Karthik also departed.

On Delhi's decision to field after Shreyas Iyer won the toss. However, with the onfield decision being not out and there being considerable doubt, he was reprieved.

- Shikhar Dhawan and Rishabh Pant recorded Delhi Capitals' best partnership in this season so far.

Dhawan added, "I really enjoyed in the first six overs but I knew I had to stay till the end".

Although the dashing left-hander did get a half century before in this edition of the IPL, Dhawan was out of form with scores of 0, 12, 30 and 16 before this innings. Dhawan, however, wasn't going to be denied.
