Roseanne Barr Says Former Co-Star Sara Gilbert 'Destroyed' Her Life

Their show got cancelled less than an hour after Sara Gilbert tweeted to condemn Roseanne Barr's "abhorrent" comments about Valerie Jarrett.

"[Gilbert] destroyed the show and my life with that tweet", Barr told The Washington Post in an extensive, behind-the-scenes look at her firing published on Thursday, which included coverage of her January travels to Jerusalem.

'She will never get enough until she consumes my liver with a fine Chianti'.

After the tweet had made the rounds and many were calling Roseanne racist online and pressuring ABC, the network held an emergency call with Barr, Werner, and Disney/ABC Television Group President Ben Sherwood, who questioned why Barr tweeted what she did.

She said: 'While I'm extremely disappointed and heartbroken over the dissolution of the original show, she will always be family, and I will always love Roseanne'. She also said she didn't know Jarrett was black and believed she "was white".

They subsequently announced plans to rebrand the show as spin-off The Conners, involving the original family minus Roseanne, which is in discussions for a second series.

Following Barr's comment about Jarrett, ABC quickly dissolved the show, which had significant ratings.

Her recently re-booted show, though bringing in huge ratings for USA network ABC, was soon cancelled because of her remarks.

At 2.45am on May 29, 2018, that tweet came - "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj" - and the rest is history.

Barr hit headlines previous year after she sent an offensive tweet comparing Valerie Jarrett, a prominent official in the Obama administration, to a character in Planet of the Apes.

At the time, Barr apologized and took responsibility for her actions, explaining that a dose of Ambien played a role in the incident.

"Shmuley saved my life", Barr says.
