Raptors Rename Training Facility OVO Athletic Centre

The Toronto Raptors changed their practice facility from the BioSteel Centre to the OVO Athletics Training Centre, paying homage to Drake - who serves as the Raptors' global ambassador.

Ujiri flew to Manchester, England, where Drake is now on tour, to deliver him a key to the newly named practice facility, per TSN's Josh Lewenberg.

The renaming of the training facility, opened in February 2016 and one of the premier team facilities in the National Basketball Association, will see prominent OVO Athletic Centre signage inside and outside the facility, interior redesign elements that reflect the Raptors and OVO brands and the Raptors practice jerseys featuring the OVO owl logo on the upper left chest.

"It's very unique", Ujiri said of the partnership, which was an obvious choice given Drake's connection to Toronto and basketball fans. "This new naming rights deal for our training facility is a flawless example of the strength of this partnership and the innovative opportunities it can generate".

"Drake and OVO are an important part of our city's landscape, our team's identity, and our plans to bring a championship to Toronto", said Raptors President Masai Ujiri.

The rebranding of the facility will include OVO Athletic Centre signage inside and outside the facility, and Raptors practice jerseys will feature the OVO owl logo on the upper left chest.

"This isn't the first time the Toronto native's influence has seeped into the Raptors" public image, however.

During the last few seasons, the Raptors have incorporated black and gold into their alternate jerseys and court designs, which mirror the OVO colorway alongside Drake-themed home games.

It is no surprise that the organization is going the extra mile by putting his branding on the training facility - especially considering he already has his own locker room stall in their home arena.

The 2019 NBA Playoffs will kickoff on April 13, and if the Raptors make a run at the Eastern Conference title you can expect to see Drake in his usual court side seat once his tour comes to a close.
