Investigation involving Chiefs WR Hill underway

Kansas City Chiefs star wide receiver Tyreek Hill is under investigation for alleged battery of his child, according to The Kansas City Star and KCTV.

The station reports Overland Park police were called to the home Thursday afternoon and that the National Football League and Chiefs are aware of the investigation, which Overland Park police turned over to the Johnson County District Attorney's Office for review. Hill's fiance, Crystal Espinal, is identified among "others involved". Hill and Espinal have a 3-year-old son, but he is not specifically named in any reports.

"A source familiar with the situation said Hill's fiancee has been in contact with Overland Park police", the Star's Steve Vockrodt and Brooke Pryor reported. Hill had not been charged with any crime as of Friday afternoon.

As part of his plea agreement for the domestic abuse charge, Hill attended a 52-week batterer intervention course and was supervised for two years.

While at Oklahoma State, Hill was convicted of domestic assault for an incident in which he was accused of punching and choking his girlfriend.

He completed probation in 2018 and his conviction was dismissed.

The Chiefs confirmed that they are aware of the investigation.

"Tyreek has done a nice job staying on top of himself with that", Chiefs coach Andy Reid said late last month. "We would never put anybody in this community in harm's way". We have things set up for him if there are issues, but he's been phenomenal.

The two-time All-Pro had also positioned himself for a massive payday.

Hill is one of the Chiefs' most prominent players. The largest contract given to a wide receiver is the $90 million, five-year deal that the Giants gave Odell Beckham Jr., who has since been traded to the Cleveland Browns.
