Teddy Bridgewater Reportedly Considering Leaving Saints Over Sean Payton to Cowboys Rumors

They are set to host tight end Jared Cook and are trying to bring back quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for a backup role.

Bridgewater is expected to visit the Dolphins training facility on Wednesday night, according to a league source, one day after he rejected a two-year, $10 million offer to become the team's starting quarterback.

Yet, that decision was not etched in stone, as reports on Wednesday indicated that he will meet with the Miami Dolphins. On Tuesday, Bridgewater reportedly was ready to turn down more money from the Dolphins to return to New Orleans and serve as the heir apparent to 40-year-old Drew Brees. Brees' current contract will void after the 2019 season, making him a free agent in March 2020 or opening the door for his retirement.

Bridgewater hasn't gotten much of an opportunity since suffering a gruesome knee injury with the Vikings in 2016.

The former first-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings made a decision to stay with the New Orleans Saints, as he is considered as the favorite to become Drew Brees' successor.

The Dolphins are in quarterback limbo with Ryan Tannehill's future unclear under the new coach-GM combination of Brian Flores and Chris Grier.

The Dolphins will likely release Tannehill with a June 1 designation in order to save $18.75 million in salary-cap space.
