Ky. Busch cruises to 11th Xfinity win in Phoenix

Kyle Busch completed a two-race sweep of ISM [formerly Phoenix International] Raceway on Sunday, following up his Saturday win of the NASCAR Xfinity Series race there with a win in the Ticket Guardian 500 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race.

Ryan Blaney is trying to continue Roger Penske's dominance of the NASCAR Cup Series from the pole Sunday at ISM Raceway near Phoenix.

The victory was Busch's 199th career victory across all three of NASCAR's national touring series.

That allowed Martin Truex Jr. to climb all the way up to second place. He will go for the 200 milestone next weekend at Auto Club Speedway in California. We've been poised to have days like this and contend for wins and it just hasn't happened this year. But both managed to get to the finish without coming seriously close to running dry, though Blaney had to make an effort to save fuel in order to do so.

"It definitely was a good weekend after the start of the year we had", Blaney said. "Let's set it at a 100 and see if we can't get there". "I think (Busch) was kind of riding back there, too. This is what we deserve".

Aric Almirola, Joey Logano, Alex Bowman and Kyle Busch rounded out the top five. Kyle Larsen drove to sixth from the back of the field after failing to get his money lap in during qualifying before time expired, while Kurt Busch and Jimmie Johnson also had strong runs. I want to say thanks to iK9. "I wanted to salvage a top-5 out of the day". I'm going to go out there and race and I'm going to go out there and try to win.

Denny Hamlin also held a brief lead in the first stage when he was one of three drivers to take only two tires during a lap-39 caution for Erik Jones. But he never seemed to have much speed in his No. 4 Ford this weekend, spending most of the race hanging around the top 10.

In the final segment, Elliott reported a vibration before spinning on the next lap, bringing out a caution. "I saw [Allgaier] get sideways, and by the time I had entered the smoke wall and I knew I was sliding, I just couldn't see anything. I was just wide open", McDowell said. Running in Blaney's wake for 37 laps, Busch finally made the winning pass on Lap 296 of 312 and nursed his auto to the finish line.

Busch had one of the most dominant cars throughout the race on Sunday, and led a race-high 177 laps. I don't think we would have got to third on four, because it was hard to pass out there. But a speeding penalty during the NASCAR Cup Series race dropped him back, and he was only able to work up to third place by the end of the day.
