Democratic star Beto O'Rourke confirms he's running for president

Many on both sides of the aisle have wondered whether or not Beto would run, especially after his loss to Sen.

Beto O'Rourke is jumping into the race for president, he told an El Paso TV station in a text message Wednesday.

According to the latest edition of Vanity Fair, Mr O'Rourke said: "You can probably tell that I want to run. I do".

The announcement will come Thursday morning, KTSM reported.

"Man, I'm just born to be in it, and want to do everything I humanly can for this country at this moment", O'Rourke said.

O'Rourke catapulted to national prominence during his failed bid to unseat Sen.

Earlier in the day, Vanity Fair magazine published a story on O'Rourke's thinking on whether to enter the crowded Democratic field. "If I were to run, if I were to win, that my administration looks like this country". Ted Cruz, though by much less than Democrats usually do in ruby-red Texas.

"I want to be in it. man, I'm just born to be in it", he is quoted as saying on the cover, which was shot by famed photographer Annie Liebovitz.

When it became clear that O'Rourke was considering a run in 2020, Trump again mocked the Democratic phenom.
