DeMarcus Cousins leads Golden State Warriors over Houston Rockets with dominant performance

In his first season with the Golden State Warriors, DeMarcus Cousins hasn't quite adjusted to the level of scrutiny and interest that comes with playing for the defending back-to-back National Basketball Association champions.

The Warriors made sure no such sweep happened this year with a 106-104 over the Rockets in Houston. She called it her stories. "I used to watch it with her and every episode it was something", he said. "That's what this has turned into - "As the World Turns". It had the same eerie feeling it did when James Harden hit that impossibly hard 3-pointer on January 3 to beat the Warriors in overtime.

"I think it's coming", Cousins said. "I play basketball. I don't look for drama or stories or anything like that". "You can put whoever you want on me, honestly". Cousins recorded six assists in the first half.

But on Wednesday, with Kevin Durant out with an ankle injury, Cousins shined.

Thompson's second 3-pointer of the game helped him make history, as he joined Stephen Curry as the only other player to make at least 200 3-pointers in seven consecutive seasons. The Rockets are tied with Oklahoma City for third place behind Denver. Chris Paul was the Rockets' second-leading scorer with 24 points on 7-for-12 shooting. Golden State shot 49.4 percent from the floor and finished 10-for-10 from the free-throw line. "We won nine in a row. you kind of let go of the rope a little bit or we make some mistakes that we've been getting away with maybe against some of the teams we have been playing over the last few weeks".

"I mean it's cool but we've been in this business long enough to know how it goes", Cousins said of the criticism. We lost. We know we did.

Cousins clearly wasn't a focal point of the Rockets' defensive game plan even with Kevin Durant out because of a sprained right ankle.

Curry added 24 points for Golden State.

Eric Gordon was asked if he believes the Warriors see the Rockets as their foremost challenger. He joined Curry as the only players in National Basketball Association history to have seven straight seasons with 200 3-pointers.

The game was tied later in the quarter after a three-point play by Paul before the Warriors used a 9-2 surge to take a 76-69 lead with about five minutes left in the third.

Houston (42-26) trailed by 13 points with 4:52 left before storming back with a 14-2 run. He averaged 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds in 48 games with New Orleans.

Rockets: Gordon finished with 17 points.

"I don't think anybody can stop me 1-on-1, period", said Cousins, who was 11-of-16 from the field. But because of them, we often ignore the flip side of that coin, the other side of the court, where the Rockets prefer to switch every screen, but might now find that strategy much more risky after the injection of Cousins into the already complicated equation.
