Naomi Osaka announces split with coach Sascha Bajin

Naomi Osaka, victor of the past two grand slam tournaments, has parted ways with her coach Sascha Bajin.

She also thanked Bajin and wished him "all the best in the future".

"I will no longer be working together with Sascha", she tweeted. What a ride that was.

Bajin thanked Osaka and said he wished her "nothing but the best".

Osaka became the youngest woman to make her debut at No. 1 since Wozniacki at 20 in 2010 and the first tennis player from Asia to reach the top of the women's or men's tennis rankings. No reason was given for the decision to part ways.

That added to her championship at the U.S. Open last September, when she defeated Serena Williams in straight sets.

Osaka enjoyed a remarkable rise up the world rankings after first linking up with Bajin in the 2017 off-season.

Osaka, who grew up in the US and speaks little Japanese, melted hearts when she fought back tears after her emotional US Open win over her idol Williams as booing echoed around the stadium.

"Behind every tennis player is a great team".

In their second tournament together, Osaka produced her career best result at a Grand Slam event.
