Missouri State Beats Illinois State on Half-Court Buzzer Beater

All but a few players raced to scoop the ball up off the ground, and one of those scramblers, Missouri State's Jarred Dixon, managed to put his hands on the ball.

The Missouri State-Illinois State men's basketball game briefly devolved into a kid's soccer game on Sunday.

Illinois State led 65-63 with 7.8 seconds. He then launched a shot from half court, which sank through the net to give his team the 66-65 victory.

However, something unusual and lovely happened in the final seconds of an otherwise anonymous game, with Missouri State senior Jarred Dixon converting a wild buzzer-beater from halfcourt to secure the victory.

Here's the play from a different angle.

"As soon as I let it go, I was like, 'this has a chance to bank in or bank out, '" Dixon told the Springfield News-Leger.

Dixon finished with 13 points in the win.

We didn't have to wait for March Madness to get the wildest buzzer-beater of the 2018-19 college basketball season, thanks to Missouri State.
