Katy Perry’s shoe label accused of ‘blackface’

Katy's recent shoe offering that was available at Walmart and Dillard's has since been pulled off the shelves since one particular design resembles Blackface.

Katy Perry attends the 61st Annual GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center on February 10, 2019 in Los Angeles, California.

The shoes, which depict a blue-eyed face on top of black material, apparently imitate blackface.

Gucci, meanwhile, stopped selling a black sweater last week because it partially covers the wearer's face, which prompted some to claim it too closely resembled blackface.

Katy Perry may be in the midst of doing some major damage control.

The shoes raised eyebrows and even singer Masika Kalysha noticed them and said, "So we just gonna let Katy Perry slide?"

The shoes were also taken down from the fashion line's website. However, TMZ reported once Katy became aware of the uproar, she made the decision to remove the shoes.

"In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes", the insider shared. The two styles appear with two eyes, a nose and red lips on them.
