Thunder Waives Alex Abrines

Alex Abrines has been waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder, as the club announced.

Abrines will be a free agent this summer, but it is unclear if he will remain in the United States or opt to return to his native Spain.

Abrines recently returned to play against the Orlando Magic and the Miami Heat but he has since missed the past three games for the team.

The team and Abrines mutually decided for the 6-foot-6 guard to be released, with Abrines determining it best to step away from basketball to focus on his personal issue.

Nader has averaged 6.1 points and 2.2 rebounds per game, including 39.5 percent from 3, but the Thunder could still use an upgrade on the wing.

The organization has helped Abrines deal with his personal matter this season and intends to continue that support. The 25 year old played in 174 games for OKC over the past three seasons.

After reportedly parting ways with Abrines, the Thunder now have just 12 players signed to guaranteed contracts and a pair of two-way contracts.
