Dem Sen. Murphy: Green New Deal Comparable to Moon Landing

During her appearance on the NPR podcast a couple of days back, Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez outlined her stance in regards to her monetary policy and how she plans to restructure the social/economic framework of the USA if her freshly proposed "Green New Deal" is passed by the senate.

A fellow senator who caucuses with the Democrats, independent Senator Angus King of ME, as well as Obama's former energy secretary Ernest Moniz, say they don't think that this plan is realistic.

Buttigieg announced an exploratory committee last month for the Democratic Party's presidential nomination, and his remarks Sunday reflected a growing consensus among much of the prospective 2020 field in support of the "Green New Deal".

"I frankly think we need to set our sights high", said the CT senator, who co-sponsored the Green New Deal resolution along with Sen. "They said, 'We got this, we can do this, the forces of the market are going to force us to innovate, '" she told NPR on Thursday. In the end, Ocasio-Cortez scored in the primaries 58% of the vote, beating his main rival, 56-year-old Democrat Joe Crowley, 16%. Murphy didn't offer any explanation regarding "why or how [the legislation] is realistic or practical".

Warren has backed the Green New Deal and championed it during her rally today.

To put this in perspective - the entire Apollo Program cost approximately 2.2% to 2.3% of what one year of the Green New Deal would cost, according to Smith's yearly estimate.
