Childish Gambino's This Is America makes Grammys history

Childish Gambino's "This Is America" was the victor of not only the best song of the year but also scored the Grammy for record of the year for rapper Donald Glover.

Unfortunately, the artist was not at the awards ceremony to receive the wonderful honor. Maren Morris and "Shallow" by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Rapper Childish Gambino on Sunday scored the Grammy for Best Music Video for his striking "This Is America" clip targeting gun violence and racism. The Grammy for song of the year honors song writers, while record of the year goes to the recording artist.

Ludwig Göransson accepted the Song of the Year award on Childish Gambino's behalf and made sure to shout out 21 Savage while he had the mic.

Last year, Glover took home the award for best traditional R&B performance for "Redbone".

Although Gambino didn't show, we did learn that Mayer and Keys split a Grammy years ago after his song "Daughters" beat "If I Ain't Got You" for song of the year.

While showing her half of the GRAMMY during the telecast on Sunday, Mayer took the stage and brought out his half, reuniting the pieces "for one night only", he said.
