Aladdin Grammys trailer gives first look at Will Smith as blue Genie

As promised, Will Smith has granted fans' wishes and been transformed into a blue hue for Aladdin. Granted, we don't see Will Smith's genie do half the bonkers stuff Robin Williams' animated version did in this trailer, but Disney seems to be on the right track with the character so far. The new TV commercial, dubbed a "Special Look" at the remake, shows us the new Genie in all his glory and he certainly looks a lot more blue this time.

We learned about the Guy Ritchie-directed film a year ago and that Will Smith had signed on as the hilariously silly Genie.

Alongside Smith, "Power Rangers" star Naomi Scott stars as Princess Jasmine and Canadian actor Mena Massoud stars as Aladdin.

But let's be real: it's Will Smith that steals the spotlight in the trailer, showing up at the very end and making quite the impression. They were forced to speak up after an Entertainment Weekly cover story in December showed a pre-CGI Smith, which prompted Twitter blowback.

"You really don't know who I am?"

One Disney exec told EW that Will's Genie is part Fresh Prince and part Hitch. Aladdin opens in theaters on May 24.
