Ant And Dec's Reunion In Jeopardy Thanks To Simon Cowell

Anthony McPartlin (L) and Declan Donnelly aka Ant and Dec attend the Virgin TV BAFTA Television Awards at The Royal Festival Hall on May 14, 2017 in London, England.

Piers Morgan has slated the decision by the organisers of the National Television Awards to nominate Ant & Dec for two of its most coveted gongs.

The pair, both 43, have picked up the accolade for the past 17 years on the trot, most recently in January last year.

The duo is also up for a second award with their show Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway which is up for the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award along with I'm a Celeb, All Round To Mrs Brown's, Love Island and The Graham Norton Show.

However, Piers seemed to have been forgetting that Ant still made numerous TV appearances with Dec prior to his arrest past year.

And Donnelly has been nominated for ITV's I'm A Celebrity.

The nominations come in spite of the fact that Ant McPartlin has spent much of the past year taking a break from work, following his conviction for drink driving.

Ant and Dec face competition this year from Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and their friends Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield in the Best Presenter category. Get Me Out Of Here! which he presented alongside Holly Willoughby in McPartlin's absence.

There is a battle of the sexes in the drama performance category, where three women - Killing Eve's Jodie Comer, Our Girl's Michelle Keegan and first female Doctor Who Jodie Whittaker - take on Peaky Blinders' Cillian Murphy and Bodyguard's Richard Madden.

Donnelly has been nominated for ITV's I'm A Celebrity.

Although co-host Susanna Reid couldn't help but interrupt to correct Piers saying: "You can't sit on your backside and walk your dog". He also enjoyed noting the absence of their rival BBC Breakfast in the nominations.

The Great British Bake Off will be up against last year's victor Gogglebox in the factual entertainment category.
