Vinod Rai recommends 2-ODI ban for Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul

The Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul controversy has snowballed into a topic of national interest after the pair appeared in Karan Johar's famous talk show Koffee With Karan. This one was aired two weeks ago, on December 30, 2018, whereas Hardik and Rahul's episode was supposed to be the first episode of this year on Koffee With Karan.

"I am not convinced with Hardik's explanation and I have recommended a two-match ban for both players".

The episode that aired on 6 January on Star World, and also uploaded on Star's OTT platform Hotstar, is no longer available on the website.

Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul. The recent episode became quite the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons, so much so that the comments made by Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul even resulted in strict action being taken against them by BCCL.

Pandya had said on the show that he told his parents about losing his virginity and pointed out women to them with whome he had a relationship.

"At a party, my parents asked me, 'Acha tera wala kaun sa hai [Which women are yours]? I said yeh, yeh, yeh (pointing out women) and they were like 'Waah, proud of you beta", Pandya claimed. Later, when Johan asked him why he doesn't ask for the names of women at nightclubs since he has trouble remembering them, Pandya replied: "I like to watch and observe how they move. I'm little from the black side so I need to see how they move".

Facing major backlash on social media, Pandya quickly took to his Twitter account and sent out an apology where he said that he got "a bit carried away" and that he did not "mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments". Virat Kohli-led India are set to take on Aaron Finch's Australia in a three-match ODI series, starting with the first match in Sydney on Saturday.

Pandya has since reportedly also apologised to head coach Ravi Shastri, and former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Rahul has not yet reacted to the social media storm.
