Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 with 48-megapixel camera launched: Price, Specifications

The Redmi Note 7 comes with two cameras on the back which are placed in a vertical fashion.

It's worth mentioning that Xiaomi is all set to spin its Redmi line-up into a separate, independent brand at an event in China tomorrow. Talking the specifications, the device comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) display with waterdrop notch and 19.5:9 aspect ratio.

This is the first time Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro - which was launched in September 2018 - has got a discount.

In terms of build quality, the Redmi Note 7 comes with a glass sandwich design sporting 2.5D curved glass on either side of the metal frame. Under the hood of the Redmi Note 7, you'll find Qualcomm's midrange system-on-a-chip, the Snapdragon 660. The phone also has a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. Ahead of the unveiling, the alleged Redmi Note 7 was recently spotted on the Chinese certification agency TENAA's website.

For imaging, the Redmi Note 7 packs a 48MP f/1.8 main camera that uses Samsung's GM1 ISOCELL sensor and a secondary 5MP shooter for depth of field effects. A fingerprint sensor is also seen, which means that this phone will not be shipping with an in-display fingerprint reader. This rear camera also comes with features like EIS and Night Mode. Before now they were part of Xiaomi, creating the most affordable line of smartphones for the Xiaomi phone collection - now they've been spun off into their own entity. It has a large 4000mAh battery like previous Redmi phones and is compatible with 18 watts quick, wired charging. As for the connectivity options, we get Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS and a USB Type-C port. The battery is 4000 mAh. USB-C, headphone jack, IR-blaster, gotta catch em all.

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 7 in three variants- 3GB+32GB, 4GB+64GB and 6GB+64GB. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of the Redmi Y2 can now be bought for Rs 10,999.

But the best thing about the phone has to be the price, starting at just 999 yuan (~$147) for the 3GB/32GB model. Notably, this is the first smartphone to have Snapdragon 660 SoC under 1000 Yuan in China.
