Sandra Oh, Andy Samberg to host the 2019 Golden Globes next month

This announcement comes just one day before the nominees for next year's Globes will be announced, with both Samberg and Oh likely contenders for their work on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Killing Eve, respectively.

"Sandra and Andy are the flawless choices to host this world-class event".

Samberg and Oh did a test run as co-presenters at the Primetime Emmy Awards in September, which aired on NBC.

The Golden Globes, chosen by members of the small Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), are the first major ceremony in Hollywood's long awards season culminating with the Oscars on February 24.

She's expected to also get a nomination on Thursday when the list is released for her critically acclaimed role in the BBC show Killing Eve.

The two celebrities will be first-time hosts for the Golden Globes, which honour television and film. Oh, meanwhile, now stars (and serves as co-executive producer) on BBC America's "Killing Eve", for which she was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama at this year's Emmys. Last year's host was comedian and late-night star Seth Meyers.

Meher Tatna, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which hosts the annual Golden Globes show, said he was looking forward to seeing the duo's "undeniable chemistry" onstage. The Golden Globes led NBC to the nightlong win in total viewers despite National Football League playoff competition.

The actors, who have each won the coveted award, will take the stage in January in Los Angeles to present the show which honors exceptional talent in both film and television. "Brooklyn Nine-Nine", on which he stars as Detective Jake Peralta, was canceled by Fox in May after five seasons.
