Yes, the company got burned last time out with the PS Vita, but that failure was caused by many different factors and now, with the Switch showing how to do a hybrid portable console successfully, the market has been proved as ready for such as system and Sony has the hardware, technology (PS Now anyone?) and, crucially, games portfolio to take on the Nintendo Switch at its own game and win.

Of the games that will be pre-loaded onto the classic console, Battle Arena Toshinden, Cool Boarders 2, Destruction Derby, Grand Theft Auto, Jumping Flash!, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Resident Evil Director's Cut, Tekken 3 and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six will be "on the PAL version" of the game, Sony advised. The PlayStation Classic is now available to preorder priced at £90 or $99 and will be available both in online and high street retailers from December 3rd, 2018. It does not support any other video or audio output methods. The set-up is straightforward as well, with an HDMI cable in the box to connect the console to a TV, alongside a USB power cable - although it should be noted that a plug is not provided, and users will need to source one themselves. To replicate the authenticity of that experience, the Classic asks players to switch between virtual discs at the same point as in the original games. There are no plans to bring new content or updates to PlayStation Classic post-launch. It is not possible to purchase additional games for PlayStation Classic. All 20 titles are contained in the PS Classic's internal storage.
