OPPO Teases to Launch its First R-series Smartphone in India

Even though there's room for speculation on which R-series phone might arrive in India, the R17 Pro seems like the right fit as it would not risk overshadowing its F-series phones like the F9 and F9 Pro by launching the R17 model.

The Oppo R17 Pro comes with a new fog gradient color scheme that uses 3D fog glass and a new condensing grading process. The Oppo R17 and Oppo R17 Pro were launched in China in August this year, and the company is now looking to launch the Oppo R17 Pro smartphone in India, probably alongside its sibling as well. The phone comes in two variants - one 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage option and a 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage option, both of which are expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. However, it still runs Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 skin on top. The smartphone sports a 6.4-inch (1080x2340 pixels) full-HD+ display with a 91.5 percent aspect ratio. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 710 SoC with an octa-core CPU, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB storage.

For the camera, the Oppo A7 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and 2-megapixel with f/2.4 aperture. As of now, there is no clarity on what the third lens is meant to do. The A7 also features the following sensors: accelerometer, ambient light sensor, gyroscope and proximity sensor. As mentioned, it comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor. In terms of dimensions, the Oppo R17 Pro 157.6x74.6x7.9mm and weighs 183 grams. The triple camera setup consists of a 12MP primary camera with a variable aperture (f/1.5 to f/2.4) that adjusts automatically to lighting conditions. On the front, the Oppo R17 Pro flaunts a 25MP Sony IMX576 sensor. The smartphone has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB Type-C. This enables 50W SuperVOOC charging technology that Oppo introduced with the Lamborghini Edition of Find X, promising 40 percent charge in flat 10 minutes. It will also become the first OPPO smartphone with an in-display fingerprint sensor to launch in India.
