Honda Passport Will Renew in Los Angeles

The teaser images or video don't show much of the design of the new vehicle, but do demonstrate the Passport is more off-road-capable, which falls in line with Honda's "adventure-ready" idea for the model. The online event kicks off at 6:30 p.m.

After rumors swirled at the start of 2018 over a reborn Honda Passport, the brand has confirmed the nameplate's revival.

If the Passport name seems familiar, you can pat yourself on the back.

The Honda Passport SUV is returning for the 2019 model year, debuting at the LA Auto Show later this month.

Honda brand light-truck sales are on track for a fourth-straight record year, on the way to top 700,000 units for the third year in a row and now accounting for more than half of the Honda brand's USA sales so far this year, with light-truck sales up 5.3 percent from year-ago results. Shortly after discontinuing the Passport, Honda rolled out the more car-like and practical Pilot. Further strengthening its capacity to meet record demand for light trucks, in August Honda added production of the CR-V to a fourth North American plant, in Marysville, Ohio. It goes on sale early next year.

Expect the Passport and Pilot to have more in common this time around.
