Red Dead Redemption 2 Has Already Shipped 17 Million Copies Worldwide

As it turns out, a lot of people want to play Red Dead Redemption 2. While we knew that early sales of the game were doing incredibly well after it made $725 million in its opening weekend, these numbers are perhaps even more staggering that anyone expected.

Rockstar has shared the first details regarding Red Dead Redemption 2's online mode, named simply Red Dead Online.

Rockstar Games is not known for its strong female characters, but Red Dead Redemption has always fared better in that regard than the Grand Theft Auto series. For example, it's the "most pre-ordered" full game ever released on the PlayStation Network, while also taking the platform's crown for the game with the "biggest" day one sales period.

All things considered, with this huge figure already under Red Dead Redemption 2's belt after such a short amount of time, it causes one to wonder just how much of a sales boost the game could get once Rockstar introduces its multiplayer component, Red Dead Online. Oh, just the fact that the game has sold boatloads of copies in just eight days. You may have not noticed them because you can't see them while playing Red Dead Redemption 2.

News about that came out of Take-Two's financial report too, with CEO Strauss Zelnick (chairman of the board at CBS, CNET's parent company) saying the online beta would launch at some point near the end of November.
