PUBG is free for Xbox this weekend

The battle royale game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has received a number of indicators that the now Xbox and PC exclusive title may be headed to the PS4 soon.

The release of PUBG on PS4 wouldn't come as too much of a surprise. "Don't know when it's coming out, but it's already on Sony servers, hosting the game image and Content-ID for the psn store".

On Monday, members of video gaming forum ResetEra unearthed a post from October in a separate PlayStation forum called PSNProfiles, wherein a user claimed that PUBG was in their PS4's game database.

In response to comments about a possible release around The Game Awards 2018 on December 6 in Los Angeles, Ahmad added: "Pretty much".

This rumor of PUBG's arrival on PS4 was first outed by the Korean Ratings Board in an accidental leak back in September.

This ties in nicely with the theory that PUBG developer Bluehole had signed a 12 month exclusivity deal with Microsoft.

If you're an Xbox One owner on the hunt for something new to play, a new promotion from Microsoft just might have you covered.

PUBG was launched as a console exclusive on Xbox One past year when it launched as Early Access. One year sounds like a reasonable amount of time for a timed exclusive to become available on other platforms, and one commenter within the thread spoke with more confidence about the potential release date. It's also possible that the version coming to PS4 next month will be past 1.0, which would negate the need for an Early Access-style period.
