Dead Brothel Owner Wins Local Nevada Election Running as a Republican

Dennis Hof, a brothel owner who died last month, overwhelmingly won an election to Nevada's State Assembly on Tuesday.

Another Republican will be appointed to serve in his place after results showed the late brothel owner received over 60% of the vote. Then, hours after celebrating his 72nd birthday with a wide array of folks that included porn star Ron Jeremy and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Hof was found dead at his Nye County Love Ranch brothel on October 17.

In June, Mr Hof won the nomination contest for a Republican state assembly seat, supported by Trump associates Roger Stone and Grover Norquist and evangelical Christians who said they voted for him because they believed he would clean up politics.

Arguably the single biggest victor in the US Midterms is a brothel owner who has been elected as a congressman for Nevada.

The thrice-divorced author of "The Art of the Pimp", who appeared on HBO's "Cathouse", owned a strip club and five legal brothels in Nevada, the only USA state with legalized prostitution.

The author of The Art of the Pimp, his autobiography, Hof called himself the "Trump of Pahrump" after the Nevada city where he owned two other brothels.

Police did not suspect foul play at the time of his death and no one who was with him the night before noticed any signs of ill health. Former NBA star Lamar Odom was discovered unconscious at the same brothel several years ago but survived.

Hof also ran for the state Legislature in 2016 as a Libertarian but lost the race.

He said he faced political retribution this year in the form of an anti-brothel push and regulatory problems. They're banned in counties that contain Las Vegas and Reno, and the state does not publicize how many are open.

So who will end up representing Nevada's Assembly District 36?
