Breaking Bad Movie in the Works From Creator Vince Gilligan

This is envisioned as a standalone installment in the Breaking Bad franchise that lives in the Breaking Bad universe.

According to the Albuquerque Journal, there's a hush-hush film heading into production in New Mexico later this month under the working title, Greenbrier, which their sources have confirmed as being related to AMC's iconic series. The logline, reported by the Journal, follows the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom. We don't know if the movie will be another prequel to the epic events of Walter White's descent into a life of crime, or if it will cover new ground in the future.

Will Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston return for the project?

Series creator Vince Gilligan is driving the project, which Variety say will have "ties to the beloved series".

Gilligan, who also created the Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul, inked a three-year pact with Sony Pictures Television over the summer amid a hyper-competitive environment in the industry for proven showrunners.

That description is pretty vague, but if I, an embarrassingly huge Breaking Bad fan, were to take a wishful guess, it could be about Jesse Pinkman after the events which take place after the series finale.

That same source also reports that the title is now "Greenbriar" and that production in the Duke City is scheduled to kick off in mid-November and run through until early February. It would join prequel series Better Call Saul.

"It wouldn't feel as satisfying if it was just a cameo or an Alfred Hitchcock walkthrough".

For now, then, we'll have to wait and see what this becomes. We don't know if anyone from the original show will be back to reprise their roles.
