Dakota Johnson addresses pregnancy rumours on 'Ellen'

There was immediate speculation that this was a gender reveal party, but Dakota explained to Ellen that it was just a bash for her October 4 birthday.

However, the 50 Shades of Grey star has now explained what really happened during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' chat show.

Dakota is a Hollywood legacy - her mother is Melanie Griffith, her father is Don Johnson and her maternal grandmother is Tippi Hedren.

Ellen also got in on the joke, commenting that Dakota was wearing "a mighty tight outfit for someone who's pregnant".

"Well, the only thing I'm pregnant with is a lot of really good ideas, but not any babies", Dakota said when asked if she is pregnant.

The "Suspiria" star sparked speculation she was pregnant after a number of stars turned up to what was reported to be a gender reveal party that had seen blue balloons fly into the air, supposedly to indicate she's having a boy, but Dakota explained it was her birthday celebration and the decorations were accidentally released to the sky. "I came just as arm candy". The couple met through mutual friends and were spotted together on a trip earlier this year, which confirmed that they are together.

"A lot of people congratulated me", she said, adding that she was put in a bit of an awkward spot when she had to start telling people it was simply her birthday party - and that they hadn't been invited.

"I think I kind of crashed your birthday party", Johnson admits to the 60-year-old daytime talk show host.

Though Dakota and Chris have maintained a very private relationship, she recently opened up during a recent interview with a reporter at Tatler magazine and stated: "I'm not going to talk about it, but I am very happy".

Chris is already a dad of two - Apple, 14, and Moses, 12 - with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow.
