Samsung Unveils the 4-Camera, Midrange Galaxy A9

The hotly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy A9 will feature four cameras each with a different use - an 8 megapixel ultrawide camera, a 10 megapixel telephoto camera, a 24 megapixelmain camera and a 5 megapixel depth camera, aimed at the "Instagram generation".

Samsung on Thursday added another new Galaxy A phone to its portfolio, and it is by far the company's most unique one to date. This is the first time a smartphone features so many rear cameras, outdoing even the LG V40 ThinQ and Huawei P20 Pro.

The A9 has a 24-megapixel main camera, as well as telephoto, ultra wide-angle and depth lenses created to help with a broad range of mobile photography. Samsung is yet to announce whether it plans to launch the Galaxy A9 in other markets including India, but it is highly possible. In terms of storage, the phone will have an internal storage capacity of 128GB, which can be expanded via microSD by an additional 512GB.

Samsung mobile divisions chief DJ Koh introduces the new Galaxy A9.

The latest addition to the mid-range Samsung Galaxy A series of smartphones comes hot off the heels of the Galaxy A7 announced just weeks ago.

Moving onto the interesting aspect of the Samsung Galaxy A9 (2018), it's the first smartphone in the world to launch with four cameras on the rear side, and only the second smartphone to launch with five cameras on board. And on the bottom, as one comes to expect, there's a USB-C port on the bottom, a single speaker and no 3.5mm headphone jack, a move likely nark a few people.

But let's be honest, the Galaxy A9 is all about that quadruple camera. Imaging features include 2x optical zoom, scene optimizer, manual depth of field adjusting, and much more.

The company recently launched the Galaxy A7 in the country at Rs 23,990.

Elsewhere, the Galaxy A9 (2018) features a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2,220 x 1,080 resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.

The Samsung Galaxy A9 is set to go on sale in November this year starting at £549 - retailing over £200 less than the Galaxy S9. Coming to the pricing, it will be retailing from Euro 599 in Europe.
