Khabib Nurmagomedov threatens to quit UFC in Instagram post

Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has publicly threatened to walk away from UFC should the promotion fire his teammate, Zubaira Tukhugov, after both played a key role in the UFC 229 melee following Nurmagomedov's win over Conor McGregor.

Khabib Nurmagomedov's status in the sporting world has been elevated since his victory over Conor McGregor in Las Vegas.

It seems that Nurmagomedov heard UFC President Dana White's claim that any fighters involved in attacking Conor McGregor in the octagon after Saturday's main event "will never fight here".

However, Khabib has now addressed the UFC as they sort out the punishment for the unruly teams following 229, and he couldn't be more on point.

He said: "Why didn't you fire anyone when their team attacked the bus and injured a couple of people?" They could have killed someone there, why no one says anything about insulting my homeland, religion, nation, family?

"I will ask your dad not to punish you harshly", the president told the 30-year-old fighter from the mainly Muslim Dagestan region, adding that "you won worthily and convincingly". Once the fighter gets into the details about fellow fighter Zubaira Tukhugov, things get juicy.

He then put the blame on Conor McGregor for the brawl, saying: "If you think that I'll keep silent then you are mistaken. One of Conor's teammates was antagonizing him and yelling at him after a fight, which was, you know ... you beat your guy, it's pretty much time to shut your mouth".

He went on: "We all understand that it was a provocation and I'm sure your father understands that too". "If you still decide to fire him, don't forget to send me my broken contract, otherwise I will break it myself". And one more thing, you can keep my money that you are withholding.

"You are pretty busy with that, I hope it won't get stuck in your throat", Nurmagomedov said.

We mostly know the answers to these questions.

Nurmagomedov is now 27-0 following his win this past weekend.

UFC fighter Zubaira Tukhugov admitted on video (and bragged) about attacking McGregor and claims the former UFC champion never even hit him. The altercations started after Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor in the fourth round and proceeded to leap out of the Octagon to spark a massive brawl. Nurmagomedov wrote, referring to an incident in April when McGregor threw a steel dolly through the window of a bus Nurmagomedov was riding in at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, before UFC 223. Thus, if the UFC made a decision to fire Tukhugov then he is threatening to quit. We intend to go to the end.

If you still decide to fire him, don't forget to send me my broken contract, otherwise I'll break it myself.

UFC did not immediately respond to a request from ESPN for comment. Though now that the Nevada State Athletic Commission is involved, they may be forced to show some form of retribution or face further scrutiny.
