Venom's Creator Reveals What Sony's New Movie Gets Right

As we all know by now, the movie starring Tom Hardy as reporter Eddie Brock, who gets infected by the alien parasite, makes up its own origin for the anti-hero, but it's one that's derived from the pages of Venom's solo series. Scoring a dismal 32% on Rotten Tomatoes, many believed the film would be a huge bomb. Still, the audience rating on the same site blessed Venom with an 89% score. This movie ended up being quite enjoyable, and while it was not on par with say the latest Marvel films, it was a great start for what Sony has planned.

The British actor and filmmaker Tom Hardy stopped by JEB Little Creek-Fort Story for a special movie screening on Tuesday.

Superhero blockbuster "Venom" saved the day at the North American box office this weekend, pulling in an estimated $80 million in ticket sales, industry tracker Exhibitor Relations reported Sunday. Despite mostly negative critical reviews, audiences are showing up for Venom, and they're liking what they see.

"Venom" attracted a largely male, younger audience, while "A Star Is Born" found predominantly female and older crowds.

Despite being panned by critics, the movie comfortably broke the October opening weekend record by more than $20 million, according to Box Office Mojo figures. And get yourself some popcorn, while you're at it.
