Pre-order ASUS' ROG gaming phone on October 18th

A NY event on October 18 was teased Thursday on Asus North America's Twitter page showing the back of the ROG Phone. Along with that, Asus has also unveiled the pricing of related accessories.

The Asus ROG Phone price and preorder information comes just before Razer is widely rumored to announce its update to last year's Razer Phone today, which would be the ROG's main competition. A WiGig Dock turns the ROG Phone into a portable gaming console that you can hook up to your TV, with a physical controller in the Gamevice. It has a 6-inch, 2,160x1,080 AMOLED screen with a 90Hz refresh rate, 8GB of RAM, 128/512GB of storage, a 12/8-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie camera and a 4,000mAh battery.

Now playing: Watch this: Asus' ROG Phone is a gaming phone with actual gaming.

Details about the phone haven't been scarce - Asus has told us about the device's hardware specifications and a few of its unique software features already. Accessories will be available starting this quarter as well. ROG Phone can be used as an auxiliary display, hooked up to a wired gigabit LAN and drive a 5.1-channel surround-sound system via the SP/DIF output. The TwinView Dock adds a second screen to the phone, and that will cost $400. The Gamevice Controller can be purchased separately, at $89.99 Dollars, and packs dual analog joysticks, left and right fire triggers and bumpers, a D-pad, along with A, B, X, Y and L3, R3 buttons.

As hoped and as expected, ASUS' Republic of Gamers is bringing what is perhaps the most ambitious gaming smartphone to the US market. There's also a network port for fast, stable wired internet connections. The ASUS Professional Dock is available for $199.99 Dollars. It protects the entire phone, without hindering charging or access to the exclusive AirTriggers. On the other hand, the ROG Professional Dock is priced at $119.99, and finally the ROG Phone Case will cost $59.99.
