Google Assistant finally lets you book Uber, Lyft rides

Looks like giving Google Assistant a redesigned UI wasn't enough for Google this week, as it's giving its digital assistant another feature to add to the roster. Or, you can save yourself some time and effort by simple asking Google Assistant to "Get me a ride to Starbucks", or "Get me a taxi to Ft". Obviously in Australia your selections will be very limited but if in other countries you will be able to choose from services such as Uber, Lyft, Ola, Grab, GO-JEK and "many more".

What do you think of Google Assistant's latest feature addition?

The voice assistant starting Thursday will book you a ride through the Google Assistant app on your phone or smart speaker or on any Google Home speakers.

At the same time you will also receive information on the estimated pricing and wait times of each of the services. It's a convenient way to quickly pull up transportation options and data, but the entire booking process isn't available with Assistant. Once you select the company you want to use, you'll be sent to the appropriate app to confirm your ride request. In the coming months, they'll expand to more languages.
