SNES, N64 & Gameboy Categories Spotted In Nintendo Switch EShop

This came into the news after Nintendo UK's Switch Online FAQ dropped the awful news but the company has now confirmed that your Cloud Saves will be kept safe for at least 6 months giving you enough time to resubscribe to the membership and keep on playing.

By offering a six month period to re-subscribe, Nintendo is allowing some breathing room.

Users will be able to recover their previous cloud saves if they resubscribe to the Switch Online service within six months, the spokesperson said. Unless you decide you're done with Nintendo's online service for good, in which case they are definitely gone forever. Nintendo explained that "The vast majority of Nintendo Switch games will support Save Data Cloud backup". Thankfully, it seems like things aren't quite so bad, so long as you come back in less than six months. This includes Splatoon 2 and both Pokémon: Let's Go games.

One of the reasons why you might want Switch Online is so that you will gain access to the NES games.

An FAQ for Nintendo's United Kingdom site has this to say about that very topic: "Save data stored with Save Data Cloud can not be kept outside of the duration of your Nintendo Switch Online membership".

The Nintendo Switch Online app offers other services now that the full service has launched, outside of just the dedicated voice chat system.
