Ben Schwartz Voicing Sonic the Hedgehog In the Forthcoming Film

Since then, Sonic has spawned endless video games, cartoons, and even the longest running comic book based on a video game. While Sonic will be created using computer animation, this is a live-action hybrid, and one character from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise will not be given the digital treatment.

While Carrey's past form in playing outrageous characters (like The Grinch, for instance) is well-documented, Schwartz has prior experience in voice-acting, now lending his larynx to Dewey Duck in the rebooted Duck Tales series on the Disney Channel and confirmed as Leonardo in the Nickelodeon's "Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

Variety recently ran a report announcing that Ben Schwartz, the Parks and Recreation star who also lends his voice to DuckTales and also appears as Leonardo in the forthcoming Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, will be voicing the iconic Sonic the Hedgehog in the film of the same name. There's Dewy from the new Duck Tales, who is blue. You can find out more about that over here. Have you seen any of Schwartz's work?

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been filling out its cast, with James Marsden playing a small town sheriff named Tom Wachowski and Jim Carrey starring as Dr. Robotnik/Eggman.

Sonic the Hedgehog is scheduled to start filming this year, with a planned release date of November 15, 2019. Deadpool 1 director Tim Miller is producing. Fowler also co-directed the 2005 Oscar-nominated animated short "Gopher Broke".
