Luka Modric, Mateo Kovacic happy at Real Madrid, says Julen Lopetegui

Inter's hopes of signing Luka Modric from Real Madrid have received a huge boost after the club's parent company Suning offered to help pay the Croatian's wages.

The Croatian worldwide has been linked with a move to the Premier League after failing to establish himself in the Madrid starting XI.

And Lopetegui doesn't expect Modric to leave.

Though this seems a little unorthodox, it could become commonplace under FFP rules as clubs will go to extreme lengths to get the players they need to compete. "We're in no doubt at all that Modric is going to continue playing for us just as he has been".

"The president [Florentino Perez] was clear and unequivocal", Lopetegui said.

Speaking while on duty with Croatia at the World Cup, Kovacic said he wanted to leave the Spanish capital in search of improved first-team opportunities.

Luka Modric is now 32 years old the Los Blancos are looking for a midfielder who can replace him in their starting line up.

However, as El Mundo reported and has now been confirmed by MARCA, Real Madrid are extremely angry with the agents representing Modric, Vlado Lemic and Predrag Mijatovic.

'I told him he was a player I'm passionate about, I love him and he knows it.

They are particularly upset that Modric is allowing these games to take place when he had originally told the club from the beginning that there was no chance of him leaving.
