Trump appears to change his story about meeting

The Post had reported that the statement to The Times was dictated by the president, though at the time Trump's lawyers denied his involvement.

Sekulow said on Sunday.

"Fake News reporting, a complete fabrication, that I am concerned about the meeting my wonderful son, Donald, had in Trump Tower", the president wrote in one of several early morning tweets Sunday, many of which took aim at the media. The president told confidants that he doesn't believe that his son purposefully or knowingly broke any law, however he may have wandered into a legal mess.

Donald Trump Jr's exposure to the Mueller investigation stems from a meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer promising damaging information on Hillary Clinton that he and Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner attended at Trump Tower in July 2016. This would make sense that Candidate Trump was aware, given the fact on June 7th, Candidate Trump said he was going to do a speech about Hillary Clinton's wrongdoings (the speech never happened).

"I had bad information at that time and made a mistake in my statement", he said on ABC's "This Week" program, before continuing attacks on the integrity of special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian interference in US politics, a strategy Trump personally began from the time he took office. I say, as they come, Tax them.

At the OH rally, Trump reheated his regular attack against the ongoing investigation into his 2016 campaign's collusion with Russian Federation as "a Democrat-inspired witch hunt!"

"I don't represent Don Jr.", Sekulow said, "but I will tell you I have no knowledge at all of Don Jr. being told that he's a target of any investigation, and I have no knowledge of him being interviewed by the special counsel".

At the time, Donald Trump Jr issued a statement explaining that he and the lawyer, Natalia Veselnitskaya (pictured), had "primarily discussed a programme about the adoption of Russian children".

The lawyer told Stephanopoulos that discussions over whether the president should sit for an interview with Mueller are "ongoing".

"The Fake News hates me saying that they are the Enemy of the People only because they know it's TRUE", Trump tweeted from his Bedminster golf resort in New Jersey.

U.S. President Donald Trump holds a Make America Great Again rally in Olentangy Orange High School in Lewis Center, OH, U.S., August 4, 2018. Trump's morning Twitter post was his most direct statement on the objective of the meeting, though his son and others have said it was to gather damaging information on the Democratic candidate.

If U.S. President Donald Trump is subpoenaed by a special counsel investigating contacts between the 2016 Trump election campaign and Russian Federation, his lawyers will attempt to quash it in court, one of Trump's lawyers said on Sunday. However, he said only Mueller can determine whether the evidence rises to the level of criminal activity that is "beyond a reasonable doubt". Perhaps the Trumps, as they claim, didn't take any help from the Kremlin to win the 2016 election - but as even the president now acknowledges, they definitely wanted it.

The infamous meeting was thrust back into the spotlight last month after Trump's former personal attorney, Michael Cohen, alleged Trump approved the meeting.

Last week, Trump's national security team said Russian Federation was behind "pervasive" attempts to interfere in November 2018 congressional elections.

In another, he expressed frustration with both the media and Mueller's probe. Trump's legal team defended the statement as "short but accurate" in a letter sent to Mueller in January, as quoted in the New York Times.
