Singapore Airlines named world's best, as Virgin drops nine spots

But does the United Kingdom make the top 20 list for the best airlines?

Singapore Airlines is voted the World's Best Airline in 2018 by travelers, with Qatar Airways taking 2nd place and ANA in 3rd position.

AirAsia was named the World's Best Low-Cost Airline for the 10th year in a row at the 2018 Skytrax World Airline Awards in London July 17, 2018.

The best airlines are judged every year by leading aviation website Skytrax.

Virgin Atlantic dropped four places to 29th overall but remained the highest ranked United Kingdom airline.

Established in 2007, flynas is a Saudi Carrier and the leading low-priced airline in the Middle East with a fleet of 30 Airbus A320 Aircraft, operating over 1,100 flights weekly to 17 domestic destinations and 53 worldwide destinations. The awards are based on surveys of more than 20 million travellers, who rated more than 335 airlines between August 2017 and May 2018. Skytrax, the company behind them, claims more than 20 million people took part in the 2017/2018 survey.

Air Canada also received the Best Business Class in North America and Best Airline Cabin Cleanliness in North America awards.

Other previous winners of the top prize have included Emirates (2001, 2002, 2013, 2016), Cathay Pacific (2003, 2005, 2009, 2014) and Asiana (2010).

Sixty-eight airlines won awards in more than 145 categories.

Singapore Airways was also named the best in first-class.

Other accolades include China Southern Airlines winning the world's most Improved airline, continued success for Garuda Indonesia being named the world's best cabin crew, Norwegian as the best long-haul low-priced airline. Aeroflot 7. EVA Air 8. Falling down the rankings were Etihad (8th to 15th), Air France (18th to 25th) and Alitalia (63rd to 75th).

AirAsia Group CEO and AirAsia X Co-Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said to win the award 10 times in a row is "something".

BA, which was named best long-haul airline in 2016, fell from the top spot to 13th a year ago.
