‘Fortnite’ season 5 introduces desert biome, golf carts and free weekly challenges

There are also two new locations for players to visit called Paradise Palms and Lazy Links.

As for the map itself, Epic has added in a new desert biome which was something that was heavily hinted it over the last couple of days with all sorts of teasers. Check out all of those in full here, and I'll leave you with Season 5's Battle Pass trailer.

"Fortnite" season 5 also adds a new vehicle that will allow players to travel through the battle royale map faster. If that wasn't enough, the roof also acts as a bounce pad. Squads will also be able to jump the ATK over obstacles.

As expected, the biggest changes are within the map. Epic has brought some of them down to earth in the form of Rifts. It's unclear what these Rifts can do, but players will be testing it out once the game's servers go live. There are truckloads of tweaks, changes and additions - ranging from weapon alterations to new vehicles - so study up before dropping. Update v5.0's patch notes inform the centres of Storm Circles 7, 8 and 9 can now shift in random directions, as opposed to shrinking as normal. This means that if you're really close to a new reward and the new season is imminent, you won't lose your chance to get that skin you spent the whole month trying to earn. The very first Storm circle will also consistently do 1 damage regardless of how long the player has been stuck in the Storm.

Some changes to gameplay include adjustments to shotguns, which will now indicate how many pellets have hit, and it will be visible within the damage reticle. The Heavy Shotgun has received a change, too, as it will now fire 10 pellets instead of five.

As exciting as Fortnite's fourth season was, with consumable comet fragments, a Thanos crossover event, and even a surprise rocket launch, the game's fifth season might be even bigger. There will now be a delay when players switch from firing one shotgun to another.

Season 5 of Fortnite is finally here and the patch notes have already been released.
