Former UCLA basketball player Billy Knight found dead on Phoenix roadway

The Mericopa County Medical Examiner confirmed Knight's death. The alleged crime occurred April 1, 2017. Known the Knight family for 20+ years.

According to ESPN.com's Joel Anderson, Knight was found dead on a roadway in Phoenix on Sunday.

Nonetheless, there is a strong belief that Knight may have committed suicide judging from the sorry tone of his last message that he had penned down and posted verbally on Youtube.

The news of Knight's death comes just days after another former UCLA player, Tyler Honeycutt, apparently fatally shot himself during a standoff with police in Los Angeles on Friday.

Knight played for UCLA from 1998-2002, averaging more than 14 points per game his senior season. "I lied, I cheated and I stole", he said. I isolated myself from my family members.

During the video, Knight becomes emotional as he repeatedly references his faith and calls on people with mental health difficulties to reach out to loved ones.

'I was a taker. and that's why my life ended up where it is now. Life is not a game. "I just ask God for forgiveness for all the wrong I've done".

Mental illness is a bad disease and should be treated very seriously. He also noted that he "felt like I didn't belong here on earth. Either I'll be in heaven or will be in hell or I'll be in limbo, I don't know, but I'll take that chance". Knight started all 33 games in the 2001-02 campaign, but he never broke into the National Basketball Association, bouncing around the D-League and France and Japan after his college career.

Knight was a basketball operations assistant for the Northern Arizona Suns of the developmental G League in the 2016-17 season.

Phoenix Suns forward Jared Dudley responded on Twitter after learning of Knight's death.

Honeycutt played for UCLA from 2009-11.
